Who We Are
Who We Are
Houston Area Road Runners Association (HARRA) is an all-volunteer non-profit organization founded in 1979. HARRA serves as the umbrella organization for more than 40 run clubs in the Houston area. Among its many activities, HARRA works with clubs to coordinate club competitions, race series, educational opportunities, and other events that benefit the Houston running community. HARRA also gives the running community a voice on issues affecting all runners in the Houston area.
HARRA is an affiliate member of the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA), and through the RRCA, we are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization (EIN 74-0041210). All HARRA members are automatically members of the RRCA.
Membership in HARRA is open to all regardless of age or ability. HARRA has approximately 1000 members, ranging in ability from competitive runners who have participated in the US Olympic Trials to those who run or walk for fitness only. HARRA's programs and services are designed for runners of all abilities.
*The HARRA uses the term “running” to encompass the broad spectrum of running activities, including competitive running, jogging, fitness walking, race walking, and adaptive chair fitness/racing on roads, trails, and tracks.
