Volunteers - Very Important Performers (VVIP)

HARRA's Volunteers - Very Important Performers (VVIP) program was introduced at the beginning of 1999. The objective of the program is twofold. We want to not only encourage members to volunteer but we also want to be able to appropriately recognize those who do volunteer. A point system has been developed to track volunteer efforts. Outstanding volunteers are recognized at the end-of-year award's party and VVIP members who earn points at certain levels (20, 30, etc.) will receive volunteer recognition certificates and are eligible for prize drawings at the party. Volunteers of the Season will receive an award and grand prize.

Volunteer Application

Volunteer Application

VVIP for Individuals

  1. You need to be a current HARRA member AND registered as a volunteer in VVIP.
  2. You can register for volunteer opportunities by completing a VVIP registration form or register when you renew your membership (check the VVIP box on the application). Registration for the VVIP program, and/or sign in for credit of volunteer service at HARRA races will be available at the HARRA information tent.
  3. As a registered volunteer, you will be able to earn recognition points in the program and be eligible for awards and prizes on an annual basis.
  4. The objective of the program is to encourage and recognize volunteerism in the organization from the membership. At this time volunteers can ONLY earn recognition points for HARRA events/activities.
  5. The program model has two categories of recognition -- HARRA Service Leadership and Volunteer Excellence for Race Events -- with point values for various levels of participation and contribution. You can earn points within each category that will cumulate annually for awards and prizes.
  6. All registered volunteers who work at least two race events or earn five points for other volunteer activities will be eligible for drawings of prizes in award category level.
  7. A registered volunteer must notify the event/activity coordinator or volunteer liaison that he or she is a member of the program and need documentation of volunteer activity completed. Event/activity coordinators and volunteer liaisons will forward VVIP forms to HARRA Volunteer Committee for record keeping of recognition points.
  8. To become a volunteer at HARRA events, or report an event where you have volunteered, please contact volunteers@harra.org.

VVIP for Clubs

  1. Complete a Volunteer Request Form to obtain a list of registered volunteers for your race event. Only registered volunteers will earn recognition points for working a HARRA event.
  2. Once a request is received the committee will send you a list of volunteers, forms, and instructions for participation in VVIP. The primary responsibilities for participation include the following:
    • Assign a volunteer liaison from your club who will contact the registered volunteers to confirm their availability to work your event.
    • Complete the appropriate forms for VVIP record keeping, and forward to HARRA Volunteer Committee after the event. The registered volunteer will rely on the volunteer liaison to document the type of volunteer activity completed to earn recognition points, and report this to HARRA.
    • The volunteer program does have special categories of recognition for various race positions. Please comply with the instructions when completing VVIP Event/Activity Record.
  3. If you have any questions, please contact volunteers@harra.org.
