How did you get involved with volunteering or what motivates you to volunteer? Houston probably has the best organized, run, and fun road races in the country. These events don ’t just happen. A lot of people hours are required. If you go behind the scenes you begin to realize how much is really involved. If you stand back and watch the finished product, you observe that many people have a great time and walk away feeling good. It is nice to be a part of that process.
Which of the following are motivators?
• Affiliation
• Accomplishment
• Influence/impact
• Leadership opportunities
• Recognition
All of these contribute to motivate me to volunteer.
List skills, abilities, hobbies, training, educational background or other volunteer experience that aids you in your volunteer support for HARRA: I am not sure that I have any special skills. However, by taking volunteer responsibilities you become aware of the needs, and many of them are in areas you enjoy.
What benefits do you perceive from volunteering? I believe all of the things that were pointed out above.
What can HARRA do to provide a positive experience for its volunteers? HARRA has unlimited opportunities for individuals who want to become involved. Mercedes Tarley has done a magnificent job in the area.
Thank you for volunteering!
